Writing About Reading
The chapter comprehensively explains different writing models for the teachers. It highlights three models that include modeled, shared, and interactive writing. In modeled writing, the teacher shares a written text by reading it to students for a stress-free comprehending moment. Fountas and Pinnel (2022) also extensively discuss the shared writing tactic, where teachers and students compose a text. The overall goal is to engage students in writing and learning how to write perfectly. This model is also used by teachers teaching younger students, especially in constructing words as stated in the text. Lastly, it informed me about the interactive writing model, which is almost similar to the shared writing approach, except that the teacher picks individuals to form a word and pronounce it correctly. As explained in the text, the authors demonstrate that educators can apply these concepts in prekindergarten students.
