Learning in a Home-Based Model and the Benefits of Community Resources

Essay Instructions:

Please see attached chapter 12 and reading papers

Based on this week’s readings, answer the following questions:

1. How can early learning be supported in a home-based model, as described in the Gudrais article?

2. Identify at least 2 community resources (e.g., libraries, community centers, museums, etc.) that might benefit children and families and explain how the community resources might support the children you teach and their families. The two community resources (agencies) you identify can also be your fieldwork placements for this course.

3. Now consider the resources you identified and reflect on whether there may be barriers (e.g., language spoken, distance from the child’s home, cost, etc.) that might prevent families form taking full advantage of these resources. Is there something you or school administrators could do to remove the barriers so families could more fully benefit from the resources in the community? Please note, you can use these resources as part of your Parent-Community Engagement Plan and Fieldwork Paper.

Providers should acknowledge that not every parent wants to use their children and experience high stress and pressure. Therefore, the best effective way to save children from poor parenting is not to remove them from them, but to implement drastic measures, when the children’s safety is endangered.
The community resources, such as the libraries I have identified, are explained as follows. The book by Grant (2023) provides an in-depth discussion based on the title, “home-school and community collaboration.” The author utilizes family support strategies that are culturally responsive to prepare teachers to work efficiently with children from both high and low social and economic status. As such, the authors integrate many real-life case studies and vignettes to showcase the practical application of a family engagement that embraces cultural responsibility.
