Intervention Plan and Strategies for Improving Literacy Instruction
Part 1: Revised Literacy Intervention Plan
In order to more effectively reach students with dyslexia, the literacy intervention plan was amended to specifically intervene for students that meet their needs and follow a research-based protocol. Firstly, the nature of multisensory phonics was enriched through increased Orton-Gillingham instruction sessions from 20 to 30 minutes daily, emphasizing syllable types and words with more than one syllable. This transition is to facilitate automaticity of reading as all three students are challenged in breaking down longer words which impacts their fluency and comprehension (Ganske, 2014).
The second part of this change is that the students had done group assignments with peers. This is actually working out, better for me and for student C. By only focusing on a students’ ability to fluently speak they improve immensely however there supporting environment gets completely disrespected. Incentives were given to note down small achievements such as beating their former 10 percent pace or going from five to ten words per minute. Learners are motivated to practice regularly and work hard for the right rewards (Fisher & Frey, 2021). Gaining confidence and seeing progress is also hugely motivating. However, many people can’t participate because it’s not personal enough. They have to do other things.
Every day, students do drills that are 10 minute sections. By approaching strains in a student or students’ vocabulary and way at least assist them not compete or challenge with unable to comprehend complex desi words (Ganske, 2014). The student probably had planned reinforcement because they have obviously been given help with their note taking task as well as a visible map of what they are reading. Having these tools would make her inferential task less frustrating through more structured strategies.
Google Sheets keeps track of monitoring to ensure completeness. The parents receive weekly reports about the progress and any problem so they can assist. The revised plan unites many components to teach literacy. The program aims to be customized to individual learning styles. There is a need for all students to leave the project confident and fully prepared for life.
