Why is it important to examine the boundaries around a culture?
It is important to examine the boundaries of culture since knowing what a culture practices helps people to live in harmony (Silberman, et al. 2012). Indeed, a person will ignore any practice that may annoy their friends from a different culture. Culture remains instilled in many individuals and by identifying the boundaries will help in identifying the positive and negative impacts on the society; this will help the society in shedding negative cultural practices (Donnan & Wilson, 1999; Lamont, 1999). Moreover, the boundaries of a culture will be essential in exploiting the potential of a society; for instance, introducing a product to them means it will adhere to its beliefs and traditions. For example, selling pork to Muslims will not work and may even be taken as an insult. In writing, the writer will be able to express the right issues about the community and hence give the correct account that makes them know where they are from, where they are and where they are heading (Nichols, 1994).
