Organizational leaders must be familiar with the content and meaning of the financial information their organization produces. Entities outside the company use this information for a variety of purposes. In this assignment, you will describe in a 500 word blog post how an external stakeholder (e.g., shareholders, regulators, etc.) uses an organization’s publicly available financial information. Your finished assignment should look like something used in your professional setting. Instead of an APA-formatted essay, your work will mirror an authentic, evidence-based blog with APA-formatted in-text citations and a reference list. Step 1 Review module readings and presentations, Chapter 1 from the Bettner (2018) text, and other financial literature from an external site. Use your current organization, a U.S. corporation, or another organization that produces public financial statements. Go to the organization’s website and review the latest earnings release and information presented in other financial reports. Step 2 Determine the major interests of one of the external users of the organization’s financial data. Consider how this user may draw on the information presented in the financial reports to determine its financial condition. Examples of external users include: Investors Creditors Analysts Government regulators Researchers Suppliers Customers Competitors Step 3 Prepare a 500 word blog post identifying the organization and its business nature, the financial statements you reviewed, and the external stakeholder group you considered. Identify this group’s primary interest in the organization and the financial information this group would find most useful. What conclusions might they draw from these statements? Use APA-formatted in-text citations. Although a blog post shares a wealth of information, it is a blogger’s job to simplify complex information concisely. Use headings and bulleted lists to guide your readers' eyes through the information. You will submit your blog post as a Word document.
