Education Essay: Reflection on reading
The Ahmed chapters make many suggestions about what teachers can do to get to know their students, explore student identities, and support the development of "social comprehension" in their classes. The Gorski text outlines the history of the push for "multicultural education."
Allow the readings to inspire you to come up with one (1) action you would take as a teacher OR one (1) activity you would do with students.
Briefly describe the action or activity. This can be an action/activity that you came up with on your own, or it can be taken from one of the texts.
Provide 3 quotes from the readings that helped to inspire this idea. Be sure that at least 1 quote comes from Ahmed and at least 1 quote comes from Gorski.
Explain why you would take this action or do this activity. Also explain how the action/activity relates to the three quotes you chose.
This can be done in paragraph form, or in another form. Here are 2 ideas of how you might do it. Feel free to be creative.

Activities such as group assignments will build on the social abilities of the students. Students are expected to work together and interact with each other irrespective of their abilities, race, or gender. Furthermore, multiculturalism will be promoted since students from different backgrounds will work together and improve their understanding of their cultures.
The three quotes that inspired the activity of grouping based on diversity are;
1 “We have an obligation to make kids feel visible. Now, more than ever, we have an obligation to create a space that feels safe and accepting for all of our students. (Ahmed, 2018)”
2 “As conceptualizations of multicultural education evolve and diversify, it is important to revisit its historical foundation -- the roots from which it sprang. (Gorski, 1999)”
3 “Your strongest superpower in the classroom is kid watching. Make it about what the kids are doing and saying. That is, listen; do not just wait to talk. (Ahmed, 2018)”
