Introduction
More than 80% of the population in Indonesia follows Islam. This makes the country become the largest in the majority of Muslim globally (Abels & International Institute for Asian studies, 2011). Furthermore, statistics indicate that there are twice as many Muslims residing in the country than the combination of the countries speaking in Arabic. Since the effect of tsunami in the country, this has led to significant changes in the sharia law employed as well as the canning practice. As such, the paper attempts to discuss the external forces facilitating in the evolution of the culture. Furthermore, it attempts to discuss the effect that communication barriers have on ones reaction regarding stereotyping, ethnic glossing as well as ethnocentricity. Additionally, the paper recommends the application of this knowledge in the practice of health care (Jones, 2013).
External forces
The national motto for Indonesia is unity in the diversity. As such, the nation comprises of numerous ethnic groups. These groups comprises on their own customs, distinctive names as well as traditional dress (Hong, 2011). As such, the diverse cultures facilitates in the evolution of the culture not forgetting the influence that Islam religion beliefs has on the culture of the country.

Furthermore, two prime organizations comprising of Muhammadiyah as well as Nahdatul Ulama (NU) play a vital role in the education, politics as well as the national struggle (Davis, 2009).

Indonesia is located across the equator and it extends to more than 2000 miles east west (Hellwig & Tagliacozzo, 2009). The country is in a midst of oceans, straits as well as seas that it shares its island border with the Brunei as well as the East Malaysia. West Malaysia is found across Melaka straits with the south being Australia and the north east, the Philippines. As such, this location has a profound role in the economy, religion, culture as well as the politics of the country. Thus, this influences the evolution of the culture in Indonesia.
