This essay will conduct a cost analysis of a single-family home painting project. The family home consists of several rooms: three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, two bathrooms, and a garage. It is the wish of the house's owners to freshen up the house before moving in, and they are intent on hiring a professional to get the job done. Although the owners could do the work themselves, they found hiring a professional painter is convenient, despite the expense, considering the amount of time and effort it would take them to finish painting the home. Before considering painting the home, the first thing to do is develop a workable budget. This cost analysis includes the cost of surface preparation (including taping the door handles, trimmings, and walls), the cost of paint and painting materials, and the cost of hiring professional painters. It was also the desire of the owners to stick with one color so that any leftover paint from one room could be used to paint the next. The painters would buy a larger, more cost-efficient quantity of white paint: the owners selected white for aesthetic reasons. One gallon of paint usually covers up to 400 square feet of space: the owners requested that two coats of paint and one coat of paint be applied in all rooms to give a clearer finish.
The professionals selected to do the job estimated that it would take a crew of 3 men five hours to prepare the surfaces and ten hours to ...
