Describe why your understanding of those two particular domains is important in your teaching. Keep in mind the “Position Statement of Developmentally Appropriate Practice,” and the 12 principles of Child Development as you craft your response. For the discussion, choose two developmental domains, one of them being Language and another of your choice. Knowledge and understanding of child development is one aspect of teaching in Early Childhood. Development is often discussed in the context of various domains such as physical, social-emotional, cognitive, and language. Even if these domains are intertwined, it can be helpful to observe and think about each domain separately.

Language development is crucial to early childhood schooling. It develops receptive and expressive communication abilities as well as vocabulary and grammar. Per the "Position Statement of Developmentally Appropriate Practice," children need a language-rich environment with diverse language experiences. This involves using age-appropriate and culturally relevant resources, talking to kids, and encouraging language via play and storytelling. Teachers should know that language development is predictable but individual. This understanding helps educators spot and treat linguistic and developmental impairments early on.
Understanding language development is emphasized in the 12 Child Development Principles.
