After catching a student look at his or her colleague during an examination, the first step is to request the candidate stop looking around and concentrate on his/her paper. I would communicate that continuing with the behavior would attract disciplinary action. Moreover, it would be appropriate to investigate the intention of the student to look at his/her colleague. The reason for further investigation is to determine whether the student(s) were cheating or planning to do so by helping each other answer the examination questions. Therefore, it is proper to ask the two students to come to my office after finishing the examination.
