The study question being explored is how well online faith-based programs work in religiously controlled nations. As for the methodology, when I first thought about this study, I thought I would be using the qualitative method since I knew this question explored people’s experiences. However, I later settled on a quantitative study considering the research I did on quantifying the research data based on factors such as program retention, participation rates, and completion rates. I was glad to see Dr. Ryan Murnane’s video on mixed methods (Murnane, 2024). This excitement was because I had already changed the methodology for the study to include both qualitative and quantitative methods. This decision was informed by classmates' feedback after presenting my research. The mixed method for this study makes sense considering I need a deeper context to understand the effectiveness of these programs. One thing I will have to ensure is the cohesiveness of the mixed methods. As Dr. Ryan warned in the video, it is important to ensure that the quantitative and qualitative methods operate as a single cohesive framework and not as two studies.
