According to Gheyssens, Griful-Freixenet, & Struyven (2020, pp. 254), student-centered and differentiated learning designs are a teaching practice that puts students at the forefront of learning and teaching. It does so by engaging the student in the determination of the learning-teaching environment, considering the students’ academic differences, readiness to learn, interests, and learning profiles.
Student-centered and differentiated learning design is beneficial as it put the students in control of what they are learning and ways of learning, thereby increasing their performance as each of their interests are taken into consideration. It aids in keeping students engaged in learning by having the teacher tailor the course material to meet the student’s learning style.
