In response to the discussion on Assessment in Special Education, I choose to analyze the first prompt which is the Purpose of Assessment. Assessment in special education is very important throughout the education levels of children with special needs. It is a requirement that needs to be accomplished and done frequently in order to provide a base or framework along which evaluation and grading is done.
I agree that assessment is very vital for the education of the child. The assessment process provides important information to the stakeholders in terms of the child’s weaknesses, opportunities, threats and strengths (Pierangelo & Giuliani, 2009). The care givers are able to identify the areas that the children need more help at and what methods should be used to engage with their special needs.
