Food waste is a menace that impacts numerous institutions; thus, developing strategies to reduce food loss and promote sustainable consumption is essential. According to the Food and Agricultural Organization, about 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted annually (Elkanib et al., 2024). Sustainability efforts in reducing lunch waste in elementary schools will combat the current food waste issue facing the United States. Population growth necessitates action plans to reduce food waste and promote sustainable consumption, increasing food security (Finken, 2020). Lunch waste reduction strategies among elementary students promote improved health benefits since students consume adequate nutrients. Appropriately consuming food nutrients enhances brain development and increases students' performance. The action plans will offer reforms for issues such as inadequate motor skills, such as peeling an orange for elementary students, which leads to lunch waste. This research aims to provide action plans that will address lunch waste issues among American elementary students.
