The main difference that comes along with the idea of completing a task that someone has been assigned to and a personal achievement is the rules involved. Assigned tasks are known to have strict deadlines and are not a person’s choice but rather an obligation to do something. Therefore, the individual has the duty of working their level best in order to meet the necessary requirements and the deadline. Otherwise, without achieving that then the task will not be referred to as complete. On the other hand, personal achievement is defined by the commitment that an individual has regarding the particular objective that they want to meet. Unlike the completion of tasks, an individual can choose to postpone the deadline or even change the requirements of whatever they want to achieve in order to fit their programme. Hence, personal achievement is not depended on individuals while completing a task might highly depend on the person who has assigned the job (Midgley, 2014).
An individual might decide to work hard in order to complete a task faster and better that it should have been due to the associated rules. Such rules put a lot of pressure on the individual hence bringing about the necessity for achievement. It is that necessity which forces an individual to do the task faster in order to meet the deadline and better in order to ensure that they achieve the best out of completing that task.
