Violence in the NFL

Violence among the NFL players has become one of the biting issues, with players getting away with their actions. The impunity with which the issues are handled has baffled many fans that love the game violence is an acceptable element in sports as players are supposed to exercise the highest level of discipline seeing that they are role models (Moskovitz, 2015). This year alone, there have more than 15 players involved in violence. Most of the arrested players have been involved in domestic violence meaning that they are putting their spouses in danger (USA TODAY, 2015). Ironically most of the cases that have been reported have only become known to the world through exposure in the media. The NFL has always turned a blind to the issue and in most of the cases; they cover up the incidences in an attempt to avoid the media scrutiny and from their fan base. This is a culture that has been natured right from the college football where students that are involved in the cases are protected, thereby breeding a culture of violence and impunity (USA TODAY, 2015).

Bruce miller and Josh McNary have both had cases of violence, with the later even having rape charges and in both cases the resolution is undetermined.
With this kind of a trend, the NFL seems reluctant to deal with players that are brutally violent to their families. This is a level of impunity that is unacceptable and has to be dealt with as a growing inappropriate culture (Moskovitz, 2015). Making money has gained precedence of human rights for the NFL and it is only that cases are exposed in the media that reluctant actions are taken.
A review of the NFL policies on violence needs to reevaluate to instill strict conduct in the game. As much as the players are held accountable, it is also crucial that the officials are also held liable for any case of violence that comes up (McManus, 2015). This way they will be more vigilant in curtailing viole...
