The connection between the world of work and how people engage with the media as “culture” is that when your work involves the media, the media might change it to suit their interests. This can make the work less meaningful and be like any other commodity presented to the people for sale. If your work is presented in the media, it can also be made to support some ideas which are not valid. That means it can be used to portray whatever was not intended. I agree with the author's critique of capitalism in its reduction of workers to vulnerable consumers. The media influences people to like items that they don’t require. The media encourages workers to purchase things that are not very important and things that they could not have bought if the media had not influenced them. Capitalism can make individuals always buy things they have not planned to, which challenges those earning little wages.
