Shipping goods from one location is a cumbersome process. It is even more tedious when goods have to be shipped across the world from one country to another and from continent to continent. It is due to this reason that freight forwarding exists today in our midst. The main aim is to ensure that shipping commodities from one region effectively take place without any challenges. It is, therefore, an intermediary process whose sole purpose is to facilitate the movement of cargo.
A shipment undergoes the following steps:
* The cargo is unloaded from the belly of the plane.
* The load is placed in loading carts, where they are scanned to verify the shipment's origin.
* Packages are sorted item by item for clearance through a conveyor belt.
* The package is examined in order and loaded into the vans that deliver the packages to their owners.
Freight forwarding facility entails quite some enormous tasks, including offloading and movement of the cargo (Glass, 2013). Some of the handling equipment used include forklifts, conveyors, and even carts—the equipment's aid in making the whole process efficient.
