The most significant thing I learned this week is that using spoken words (verbal communication) is essential to interpersonal information-sharing capabilities. Interpersonal communication is best achieved using verbal communication because people can interact and create relationships more effectively. Effective verbal communication also helps avoid conflicts due to misinterpretation of information. In this vein, verbal communication can help individuals share information while explaining thoughts, feelings, needs, and observations (Abdikarimova et al., 2021). An example of verbal communication as understood via the interpersonal communication framework entails two people having a conversation or exchanging ideas over the phone, interviews, face-to-face discussions, presentations, debates, etc. (Manusov et al., 2020). This implies that listening is vital during the verbal sharing of ideas as two people try to understand what the other individual is communicating.
