The office has five differentiated functions that it strikes to effectively fulfill. Firstly, it protects the American citizenry from potential and existent terrorist threats. It’s the office’s highest priority because it advocates for the participation of first responders, the community, local governments and the private sector. It implements this function by directing available resources to the preparedness and resultant prevention of all terrorist threats to ensure the American citizenry lives safely.
