I am doing an Externship in strength and conditioning my target area are high school kids in P.E. and Football Players. I just need something that I have learned new with training and stamina and how to relate to the high schoolers. I have included the Learning Objectives that I wrote for the start of the class, as well as the handbook. This is my halfway point evaluation. Bi-Quarterly Report Name Instructor PTR499A-2: Externship A-D Submission Date Work Performed In my weeks 6-10 at Istrouma High School, I mainly worked on developing and enhancing my skills in being a strength and conditioning coach and dealing with high school students during physical education lessons and football players. During this period, I had one main goal: to further the training initiatives focused on endurance, physical capacity, and minimizing the risk of injury. Thus, the goal when developing the training was to design a program that would be helpful to the students and interesting to them, given that each training session was modified to fit the audience's needs. Before each session, warm-up activities that would build the students up for more hectic physical exercise were performed. To the football players, I taught sport-specific exercises based on exercises such as explosive power exercises for linemen and agility exercises for wide receivers. HIIT sessions were adopted for the P.E. students to develop cardiovascular endurance. These specific strategies made it possible for the training sessions to be useful for all participants despite their fitness and physical training aims. I also made it a point to talk to the students about recovery methods as part of their physical training. I used practical sessions and discussions to ensure they understood the need to stretch, use foam rollers, and, most importantly, hydrate. One of the areas of the training programs that was well received was the immediate increased recovery time and preparedness for the next exercise. Activating training programs was possible through consultation with my tutor, Coach Byron Wade, to ensure it reflected the team's football goals. Supplemental, weekly assessments of the athletes' performance were performed by recording timed sprints, agility drills, and weights.
