EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Business Schools should be at the forefront of the best practices utilized in the corporate industry. The application of breathing rooms in the Fox Business School, under Project is primarily aimed at reducing the stress and risk behaviors of students and apply the best corporate practices in a university setting. The following proposal also provides an employment opportunity for student assistants who would be the administrator of the different rooms. The strategy would provide meaningful employment while reducing the costs for administration for the university. Accordingly, the change can improve student performance, increase the school's reputation, and reduce student fees for counseling. The project is aimed to be developed from July 15 to December 5, 2020. The proposed budget is $109,500 for a tentative of 10 fully furnished and operational rooms.
Problem: Lack of Relaxation Facilities in Fox Business Schools
Because of the stressful lifestyle of students at Fox, existing relaxation infrastructures that can help alleviate their stress are not enough. As of 2019, Fox Business School has 10,000+ students enrolled in its different curriculum and around 2500+ are working students CITATION Foxnd \l 1033 (Fox School of Business, n.d.). This represents a significant number of the overall student population, which includes undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Working students are said to experience more stress in academic-related factors such as compulsory lecture attendance, exam session period, and related professor's behavior, among others (Exhibit 1). On the other hand, the same study also shows that working students are more vulnerable to risky activities such as the tendency to quarrel, smoking, and drink, as compared to non-working students (Exhibit 2). Since Fox Business School lacks sufficient facilities where students (especially working students) can de-stress, this increases the stress that these students feel as well as their tendency to engage in risky behaviors.
PROPOSAL: "Project Breath"
Fox Business School should create more rooms that would allow the students to breathe and engage in de-stressing activities. These rooms, similar to breathing rooms of innovative corporations, should in proportion to Temple population to cater to every student. The implementation of this solution can be done by allotting more quiet spaces and facilities at strategic locations on the school premises.
