Why are employees important to a business?
PepsiCo has been around for decades, and the company has built a workforce that reflects its engagement, interest, and diversity to an extent. Just like other companies, PepsiCo takes care of its employees and does everything to come up their expectations and to maintain the company standards. Employee motivation is the key to a successful business as it lets the management meet their goals within a set timeframe (Ferrell, Thorne, & Ferrell, 2017).
Without employees, no company can achieve success and can never expand its network. Thus, employees should always be encouraged to work hard and give their best. In return, the company should provide them with weekly or monthly bonuses and free medical and transportation facilities. Can you imagine a company without employees? Honestly speaking, it is not possible for any business to survive until or unless its workers are not taken care of. Whether a startup or an established organization, the company’s overall performance can be impacted without a sufficient number of employees (Werhane, 2012).
What legal issues involving employee relations affect your chosen firm?
In case of PepsiCo, there is no employee relation issue, but in other companies, the employee relation issues originate from different aspects of labor law. The legal issues like discrimination, unequal opportunities, and harassment are to be taken care of. If the company fails to give any value or respect to its employees, they may not achieve their goals and may start losing their clients (Macagno, 2013).
Luckily, no incidences of harassment or discrimination have even been reported, and that’s one of the reasons why PepsiCo is world’s top beverage company. When it comes to hiring a new worker, sex, age and gender discrimination are not paid any attention to. Instead, the company focuses on a person’s educational background, experience, his communication and interpersonal skills, and is always ready to hire both men and women based on their qualifications and skill sets (Ferrell, Thorne, & Ferrell, 2017).
