Unitization is simply the process of packaging of various items into one unit of load that is arranged in a manner that makes it easy to handle, move and manage as one unit (Myerson, 2012).This could be achieved by packaging the products in containers that would then be placed in a larger container or banded together ready to move out into the supply chain or within the warehouse. This reduces the risk of damages and makes it easy to transport. This therefore leads to discussion of the two main types of containers namely rigid and non rigid in relation to their effectiveness in unitization.
