International Business at United Technologies Corporation
The United Technologies Corporation (UTC) is an international aerospace company that was enacted in Delaware in 1934. The founding of the enterprise can be attributed to Frederick Rentschler, who had the passion and commitment to making better airplane engines. During his service in the Army Signal Corps, Fredrick worked as an inspector of the engines at the Pioneer Wright-Martin Aircraft Company (United States Securities And Exchange Commission, 2015). He worked his way to the presidency of the company, and he was frustrated with the firm’s direction of short-term profitability. Consequently, in 1924 Fredrick resigned to start his company that focused on building powerful air-cooled engines targeting the U.S. Navy market. Through collaborations with entrepreneurs and engineers, Rentschler established the Pratt and Whitney Company that provided aircrafts for the US military. Through federal incentives, the business started to grow, leading to Rentschler forming an alliance with William Boeing, who had begun building plans in 1916 (United Technologies , 2014). Consequently, the Boeing 40A that started as a fighter and later commercialized as a mail carrier was developed. During this time, Rentschler made use of subcontractors to keep up with the demand. Due to the success experienced by Pratt and Whitney and the Boeing, the entities formed a holding company named United Aircraft and Transport Corp. in 1928. The Corporation soon became the largest aviation developer and among the most profitable businesses in the world. The growth of the company can be attributed to the internal development of the existing businesses, mergers, and acquisitions. Currently, UTC is a renowned developer of high technological solutions to the construction and aerospace sectors globally. Additionally, it has expanded in many countries and has been able to maintain sales and customer satisfaction (UTC Aerospace Systems , 2013). The following discussion analyzes the aspect enables the UTC to uphold an active presence in the international market.
