As studies reveal, in the modern business world it is crucial that large organizations like Dish use both the PEST and Porter’s Five Forces analysis, as this would assist its leaders to have a better understanding of their external environment. Ideally, a PEST analysis relates to the analysis of an organization’s external macro-environment and as such, comprises of the various political, social, economic and technological factors that influence the operations of an organization. On the other hand, Porter’s Five Forces model presents a simple and yet powerful tool that would enable the leaders of a leading organization such as Dish understand where power vests considering its business situation (Subba, 2009).
From a broad perspective, it is vital that the management of Dish uses the PEST analysis regularly in analyzing its external environment, as this would enable it to identify easily any recent market trends. In actuality, Porter’s Five Forces model is an important analytical tool necessary for the success of an organization as it helps in determining its competitive environment.
