A business's marketing strategy is essential, especially for newly established businesses. A newly created product that is intended for its intended market must reach its clients in order for them to become aware of and purchase the product. For instance, a firm that sells gym equipment wants to connect with its target market, which comprises active individuals. They must target this audience if they hope to increase their chances of making a sale. That being said, marketing is a need. Back then, marketing was conducted in areas where consumers spent the majority of their time.
Advertisements could be seen in the newspaper while it was still the primary source of information, and this was how businesses would draw in or target their clientele. Then the television appears, and while everything is the same, it is now more aesthetically pleasing. People used to spend most of their time watching television during those hours. However, with the rise of the internet and the availability of shows with online commentary, people have started to spend more time on social media. Marketers are concentrating their efforts on the area of product advertising. In this paper, the author will describe these eight major social media platforms, along with their advantages and disadvantages for advertising.
Pinterest
Pinterest has a creative way of advertising, and it is done using visual presentation, mainly pictures. This makes it the perfect venue for companies to advertise their goods and connect with potential clients who are still doing research before making a purchase. This great app showcases how beautiful a product is through good-looking pictures.
Facebook
Facebook is a beautiful site for product promotion because it has over 2.7 billion active monthly users, making it one of the biggest social media platforms in the world (Newberry, 2023). This makes it possible for companies to interact with a vast and diverse audience. Additionally, I have learned that Facebook offers a variety of ad options, such as sponsored posts and display advertisements which are great for marketers that may be customized to specific demographics, interests, and behaviors, allowing for more efficient and cost-effective use of advertising spending. Facebook also provides data and insights on ad performance, enabling marketers to select the most effective marketing strategy.
Youtube
Similar to a television set, Youtube shows ads before, after, or in the middle of a video. YouTube provides just a few advertising possibilities for pre-roll commercials, sponsored cards, and display ads. These types of ads can catch viewers' attention with inventive visual presentations. The Youtube website has more than 2 billion monthly active users and a vast and varied user base (McLachlan, 2022). It was intriguing that YouTube could monitor user behavior and patterns, which they could then exploit for marketing.
