People grow and learn from various experiences. Through their connection with their surroundings, they understand and reflect on their mistakes which results in a clearer path for their future. And as they try to assess different situations, they improve with their learnings and develop their interpersonal skills. Regardless of place and time, people encounter various possibilities where they take factors that greatly influence them and change into improved individuals. As such, these said situations are the main foreground of growth for people to improve and learn.
Self-Assessment, Self-Reflection and its Importance
Various events happen within the grounds of every school, as it can be either academic or non-academic related. These events shape every student’s skills which helps them to improve their awareness of their strengths and weaknesses. Two factors that shape them refer to self-assessment and self-reflection that both focus on understanding and improving. As Ndoye (2017) describes, self-assessment is a process for which students analyze themselves while having a specific standard as their basis for improvement. This implies that students are needed to undergo this kind of assessment as it lightens the student’s present capabilities and future development. For example, an academic or non-academic organization that is built and functioning inside or outside the school. As some schools require students to join at least one organization, students are exposed to the sense of interpersonal relationships which emphasize leadership and teamwork. Since Samuelson & Nilsson (2002) presented that self-assessment creates the opportunity of comparing two different organizations from deep within, students can understand and at the same time learn from these differences. The importance of this concept for organizations is that it presents a new path for future leaders to grow and possible improvements for governance and management.
