The top reasons for the management to oppose unionization is the additional costs associated with unions. Any company which is bargaining with the union on their terms has to induct a professional labour negotiator who can develop consensus among all the workers (Seaquist, 2015). The company has to bear the expenses for hiring a specialized labour person which can incur thousands of dollars in cost. Besides the financial costs, the business also has to adapt to the bargaining agreement, which restricts the company in firing and hiring employees (Seaquist et al., 2015). Another reason for opposing unions by the management is that the employers lose their influence and control on the employees. With time, the workers limit the authority of the employer, gain power, and organize to force the management in changing the rules (Kramer et al., 2011; Madimutsa & Pretorius, 2017). The individual worker does not have the power to influence or overpower the decisions of the organization. However, with the support of the union, the workers can challenge the policies and authority of the management.
