Businesses encounter various problems by redesigning the existing processes when compared to designing new processes. The first problem is the development of a technique that assumes a working process but instead, it is equally not perfect. This technique is associated with Six Sigma. In redesigning the business process, this technique is introduced to eliminate existing defects whereby steps are developed and analysed to find out the source of defects. However, it does not work perfectly as assumed. Closely related to Six Sigma is the Lean technique which is introduced with the intention of eliminating activities that are of non-value and also reducing the time taken to carry out different activities. However, it does not meet its goal of improving on existing processes but rather assumes a process working in an acceptable manner (David Carr, 2009).
