The total quality definition varies from different perspectives considering the different roles and obligations it is subjected to. Although the core value of total quality is always focused on customer wellbeing. The introduction of total quality is an approach that an organization attempts to maximize the competitiveness of its businesses through a continuous improvement of the quality of its product, service, people, processes, and environment. As a result, this provides them the basis of the total quality baseline. These foundations or baselines will be tested using statistical process control, standardization, quality tools, and a variety of other methods ("BUS300: Total Quality Management (TQM) | Saylor Academy", 2019). The second basis is the process foundation, which includes things like continuous improvement and aiming for perfection. Followed by customer and stakeholder focus, quality obsessions, utilizing methodological skills for problem mitigation and deliberation, perseverance devotion, teamwork, kaizen, training and education, freedom through control, common purpose, and employee strengthens accountability, all of them being affiliated with the high priority of peak performance.
As we explore all steps required to initiate the total quality in this paper. The first stage is creating a complete quality effort for our chosen organization, which in this case is a textile processing company, by developing strategic planning. For instance, the application of “Deming's theory (Plan, Do, Check, Analyze)” is required ("PDCA Cycle - What is the Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle? | ASQ", 2022). This theory is important because it will allow us to gain a competitive advantage by following logical and complete steps. Such steps will then necessitate our organization in determining client requirements and then building a product with features that meet customers’ requirements. Further, we will use strategic planning tools like SWOT analysis to help us build the goal, purpose, core principles, broad strategic intent, and action plans needed to achieve our main aim.
In this situation, the second phase in launching the entire quality plan will be to review actual quality performance, compare it to the primary goal, and mitigate the gaps between measured and desired performance. The more important aspect of this phase is that it will help us to identify whether we are close to, far from, or have already achieved our primary objective ("BUS300: Total Quality Management (TQM) | Saylor Academy", 2019). In this scenario, our primary goal is to maximize profit while also providing a pleasant working environment for our staff and providing the highest quality textile materials to our clients.
The third element in the total quality program will be a quality improvement, which will be focused on both the quality of our products and the quality of our customer service. However, to be successful, this step must follow a set of actions, one of which is establishing the essential period improvements. Followed by, identifying the exact areas that will require improvement and putting the necessary improvements in place ("PDCA Cycle - What is the Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle? | ASQ", 2022). Finally, to maintain progress, provide the team or stakeholders engaged with the necessary tools and resources for that specific problem diagnosis.
