Project management has significant influence on the functions of other departments in any organization. All Tech Systems is a software development firm that engages in developing software products for its clients. The firm is encountered with both simple and complex projects the year round. All Tech Systems has several Departments including Registry, Editing Department, Human Resource, Production and Accounts. Project management plays a vital role in influencing these departments so as to ensure work is done proficiently and successfully and that products are completed within the scheduled timeline. Project management in the firm helps the senior managers to make definite decisions that set a roadmap for the department’s as well as the company’s excellence in business activities.
Project management at all Tech involves planning work activities that are broken down to departmental levels and then to individual levels. Individual performance of each department and employee is then assessed based on the overall work plan (Griffin & Moorhead, 2010). Project management is instrumental in harmonizing the activities across the various departments by ensuring that data presentation from multiple departments is integrated using such tools as PERT and CPM. The functions of the departments are also comparable. For example Finance and Human Resource departments are able to work jointly to ensure that money for resources, development, and new apparatus is accessible when required (Malhotra, 2000).
