Distinguished professors and faculty, good morning. Covid-19 ranks as the greatest challenge that societies and organizations have encountered in many decades (Bailey, 2021). This pandemic has resulted in managerial, clinical, and organizational challenges of profound magnitude (Nembhard, 2020). Governments and corporations are all in a race to respond efficiently and adeptly to ensure operations are unhinged. I want to highlight the measures taken by organizations to save them.
As the familiar adage "unity is strength" indicates, it is better to face a crisis with help from other people, organizations, and governments. Richards(2021) states that substantial trust, respect, and teamwork are a solid foundation for an organization's response to crises. For instance, UNITC collaborated with the locals and its departments to further their agenda in Myanmar. Similarly, major countries are working together to respond to global crises such as climate change and economic sustainability (Schmidt, 2021).
Scholars enlighten us that technology is a powerful tool that organizations can use to respond to crisis (Yiu, 2020). Technology can be used widely for learning, training, business, and entertainment. Covid-19 has disrupted normal operations, forcing businesses to embrace technology in their operations. For example, E-commerce has thrived due to low customer turnout at stores (Schmidt, 2021). Furthermore, UNITC created an online training course to synthesize and share knowledge (Richards, 2021).
I want to reiterate that organizations need to restructure and rethink their business (Schmidt, 2021). Workforce and operations are the most affected departments. We can see the loss of jobs as organizations trim their staff, change of working hours, changes of work environments...
