Jacksonville City The Best Choice For Apple Business & Marketing Essay
From: Kimberly Davis (Managing Partner, Canes Consulting) To: Consultant
Subject: Apple Project
Apple is planning to open another major office that will house at least 5,000 mostly new Apple employees including engineers, computer scientists, and management personnel. Tim Cook has asked all of the top consulting firms including Cambridge Consulting Group, McKinley, WolfBain, and of course ours, to each choose what we think is the best city for Apple to locate its new office. Tim has committed that he will make the firm that recommends the city Apple ultimately chooses the exclusive management consulting firm for all future Apple projects. In other words, if Apple chooses the city we recommend, our firm stands to make millions.
You will lead this engagement.
Tim has asked each consulting firm to deliver the following:
1. Written Report: A formal written proposal describing why the city we recommend is the best choice for Apple.
Unfortunately, Tim was intentionally vague about providing us with any additional information. He made clear that he expects us to determine what Apple’s most important criteria should be (e.g., proximity to major airports, climate, low corporate or income taxes, transportation, location etc.), as well as argue how our recommendation best satisfies those criteria. It’ll be up to you to determine--among other things--which city to choose and what criteria should drive Apple’s decision.
You’ve done a great job over the last few months; I’m confident you’ll make us proud.
Thanks, Kim

Introduction
Apple is arguably the biggest companies in the tech industry at the moment. It has continued expanding its reach due to the increased volume and need to grow. As a result, opening up of new branches, especially in new towns is important. However, opening up new offices calls for a number of things to be considered, hence careful assessment and planning of the same is needed. Following the request made by Tim Cook to several top consulting firms, including ours to choose the best city for Apple to situate its new firm, we made our proposal. Apple has a project to open up a new office that will house at least 5,000, mostly new employees, including engineers, computer scientists, and management. We recommended that Apple considers establishing the primary office at Jacksonville City. The decision to settle on the city is due to a number of factors that make it ideal for the same.
Jacksonville City as the best choice for Apple Project
Jacksonville is one of the most popular cities in Florida and the greater southeastern region of the United States. Jacksonville is also one of the largest city in the United States by area. This will be convenient for Apple as it will provide enough space to build an office that will accommodate over 5,000 employees. The city is located at the centre of the banks of St. Johns River in the coastal region of northeast Florida. It is 25 miles (40km) south of Georgia and 328 miles (528km) north of Miami. This will make it easy for the office to be accessed from other popular cities. Such a location is also quite important, as it provides the company with the proximity to a ready market as well as even raw materials at an affordable cost. Location at a coastal region also speaks volumes about the availability of various forms of transport at its disposal.
Concerning proximity to major airports, we have the Jacksonville International Airport, Cecil Airport, Sky Harbour Aviation and Craig Municipal Airport at Jacksonville City. These airports provide passenger and cargo transportation services. The passenger airlines provide transport to destinations like Charlotte, Boston, Denver, Miami and many other destinations. The cargo airline offers services to destinations like Miami, San Juan, and Memphis among other destinations. This is helpful to Apple Company in cases of emergencies (Kramer et al., 2013).
