Career Field Research Assignment There are a range of tools on the internet that allow you to research job posting, as well as employers. You can find a list here: Best job research tools on the web Familiarize yourself with, at the least, Indeed.com and ZipRecruiter. Use Glassdoor as a way to learn about employers/companies you may consider working for - it gives you information about salaries, job satisfaction, and so on. This assignment will ask you to search for specific, existing job openings in your field and learn to understand the expectations, qualifications, job descriptions, and so on as they are listed in postings related to your field. For the purpose of this assignment, you need not limit yourself geographically - cast a wide net to get a range of job descriptions that relate to your general qualifications (including the degree you are currently earning). Look at both attainable (open to you upon graduation) jobs and aspirational positions (what you may aim for in two years, in five years, etc.). Try to view about 8-10 posts, then select 3 that are representative and have enough information to analyze them carefully. Save the links to them, so you can find them easily again. Consider the following: What educational expectations do they list? Look at degrees, but also other certifications, etc. What experience and other skills do they ask for? What qualities (work habits, etc.) do they list? What kind of work will candidates be expected to do? Take some notes to determine patterns and vocabulary related to the field. Can the job posts tell you something about the general nature of the field you are entering? What appeals to you about them? What do you feel prepared for, and what are you not sure about? Based on your research, write a 500 word essay that discusses the following: What kinds of positions seem to dominate the career field you are interested in? Are there different paths or organizations that are fundamentally different (for-profit vs. non-profit; government vs. private enterprise; remote vs. in-person, and so on) that you need to consider? What seem to be the roles and titles of a typical career path (freelance, Assistant, Associate 1, Associate 2, Entry-level, management trainee, etc.) - try to get a sense of how the career is scaffolded, based on experience and training. Where do you see yourself in this career path, and what is your aspiration? In an application letter or interview, what skills and experiences that you have would you want to discuss? Your essay should show A good understanding of the site itself (search process, how to find information) and how to work with it - give examples of findings An understanding of different types of positions you see posted for your field An understanding of the career ladder in the field (entry level, advanced positions) An understanding of the terminology used (certifications, qualifications, etc.) Follow this with an actual job application cover letter (see resources here) that responds to an ad for a position that is available to you after graduation. Make sure to create a letter that specifically links the ad (expectations, responsibilities) with skills, knowledge, and responsibilities you will have upon graduation. Due on Sep 20, 2024 11:59 PM Please note my field that I will be entering is the IT (Information Technology). I am possibly considering being a Project Manager within the IT field. My degree I will be graduating with is a BS in Leadership and Management. I do have IT skills currently. I will attach that to you upon request if you need it.

After combing through different vacancies at such websites as Indeed.com, ZipRecruiter, and Glassdoor, I sought job offers related to Information Technology Project Manager since it is a field that I find appealing because it requires both technical and managerial competencies. In my research, I also focused on deciphering the general outline of the career path more often found in several sectors, such as the for-profit, non-profit, and government sectors, by looking at job openings and embracing every similar opportunity I could get my hand on. The positions that dominate the IT project management field generally fall into three categories: IT project coordinator, IT project coordinator, IT Project Supervisor, and Senior IT Project Supervisor. When applying for careers in entry-level positions like the IT Project Coordinator, the employer shall expect a candidate with a minimum of a bachelor's degree in fields like IT, management, or business, which is on par with my ongoing program of the BS in Leadership and Management. Others considered include PMP (Project Management Professional) and CompTIA A+. I also have a Google Fundamentals of IT Support course done already, and I am pursuing the CompTIA A+ certification for these positions. These positions are essential as they have made me more capable of many job options. Regarding the candidates' experience, most employers looking for an IT or project manager should have 1-3 years of experience in the field. Some tools include expertise ...
