The proposed study will use a population sample of 30 healthcare institutions which will reflect the general population of hospitals in the region. For each of the selected institutions, four financial utilization variables will be calculated. The variables will reflect the healthcare costs of the sampled healthcare institutions including the hospitals, pharmacies, and general practitioners. The study will employ random sampling technique to select the organizations. According to Acharya et al. (2013), random sampling is effective for studies using quantitative methods to gather information. The choice for using this technique in the proposed study is informed by the strategy's ability to allow the outcome of the research to be generalized to other institutions across the region.
