Thank you for your explanation of discretionary benefits and how they add to the organization's employees' feeling of being valued. However, I do think that most of the discretionary benefits are "extrinsic" in nature. In the course text, we're told that extrinsic benefits include both monetary and nonmonetary compensation, with the latter comprising benefits such as paid time off and insurance. Therefore, I think discretionary benefits are more of extrinsic benefits as opposed to intrinsic. What do you think about this?

Great and insightful post. As you've defined intrinsic motivation, reflects the employees' psychological mind-sets that result from performing their jobs.
