Diversity has proven to be an important factor in our current social order. So much so that leaders of organizations have become cognizant of the impact and implications for organizational goals. As such, students are required to investigate the current trends in their respective fields, and show how fostering diversity in the organization would add or detract from meeting goals, and fulfilling the mission of the organization.



Students are to select an organization with which they have direct experience. This organization will also be the focus of the additional paper due for the course.



Instructions:



The final version of this paper is due in Module 5. This week you are to turn in an abstract and an outline of the paper with a reference list of at least 5 sources (it may expand with the final writing).



For essay #1, students are to write a 8page paper discussing why cultural diversity is or is not important to their selected organization. The paper is not an opinion paper.



Arguments should be supported by the assigned readings, as well as outside sources (i.e. journal articles, newspapers, magazines, or internet-based news reports) to strengthen arguments.



Submission Instructions:



The final paper will be formatted per APA, and, abstract and references page.



Incorporate a minimum of 5 current (published within the last five years) scholarly journal articles or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions) within your work.

Academic institutions have already been educating pupils on how to understand and respect diversity and individual differences, regardless of how young they are. Diversity helps students to improve educational experiences and outcomes. Furthermore, it helps the students attain numerous positive behaviors and values (Goethe & Colina, 2018; LaDuke, 2022). Thus, students who successfully benefit from diversity will undoubtedly be able to carry the knowledge, values, and skills with them whether they join various organizations or even the workforce. However, there are situations where diversity may not always be applicable. There are times when organizations must also take uniformity into account. All things considered, there are situations in which diversity must be recognized for better results, and there are situations in which it must not be recognized to prevent issues.
A society is said to be diverse if it consists of groups of people with various talents, backgrounds, and interests. Embracing diversity enables one to respect and accept others despite differences in their worldviews, values, and cultural customs. The world will be peaceful and harmonious if individuals can respect and accept one another's differences because they can compromise. Diversity enables everyone to participate and consider everyone at once. Hence, diversity exists everywhere, and it is something that needs consideration.
It is crucial to weigh the benefits to determine if cultural diversity can benefit any company or group. Recognizing diversity allows members of the organization to be themselves and perform better. However, recognizing diversity is only the beginning; varied people must also feel included. These individuals must be given equal chances and privileges, be included in all activities, and be included in decision-making. There is a higher likelihood of improved performance outcomes when people feel involved, which is advantageous to both the individual and the organization (Samson & Saranya, 2021).
Moreover, according to Phillips (2017), working with a diverse group of people allows an individual to develop ingenuity. When one works with a diverse group of people, one acquires numerous new information and ideologies. This will allow a person to think innovatively and critically. Hence, individual differences contribute to the formulation of new ideas and possible solutions to existing problems. In addition, it allows an individual to give the best effort. Working with a diverse group of people may bring distress and discomfort since everyone has different abilities and skills, which will motivate others to work hard (Phillips, 2017). Diversity works well if it is recognized and valued. Hence, recognizing diversity can positively affect an organization's overall performance and outcomes.
