Over the years, society has come to terms with the fact that diversity is an issue that cannot be overlooked. There have been cultural and ethnic diversity al around the world. Today, even the corporate markets have seen the need to diversify their workforce. This paper briefly talks about the pros and cons of diversification in organizations and whether it should be practiced.

A research done by Princeton and Harvard universities shows that in most of the companies, the womenfolk are underrepresented. This is attributed to the fact the society is bias towards the male gender and tend to employ more of the men. However, diversification of the workforce helps to reduce this thought by the society that a company is bias and favors a gender. For this very reason, the management is encouraged to strike a balance when recruiting workers to protect the social status of the company.
Also, diversity in the workforces helps the company to find the right people for the specific jobs in which they are offering. Looking at a workforce that sticks on only one specific gender, race or ethnic group, they might compromise the thought of finding the ideal person for the job at the expense of recruiting one of their own. This goes on ahead to affect productivity. However, that company that diversifies its recruitment is at a higher chance of getting the ideal figure and when a task is given, they maximize productivity.

This can only be achieved by a company that is aimed at maximizing diversity.
Also, a company with a diverse workforce has a low employee turnover during the economic life of the company. This is attributed to the fact that the company accepts different people with different ideologies, perspectives, and personalities. The workers feel comfortable working in such an organization where they are accepted and respected for who they are. This makes them work longer as they enjoy working in that company.
Despite all these advantages, the diversification of the workforce also has disadvantages. For example, in companies that are trying to initiate diversity, there might be some workers who are against the idea. These workers may feel frustrated about the developments the company is making and end up being less productive. If the issue is not addressed, their morale may quickly go down or even affect that of other workers, hence reducing the general productivity.
