Conceptualizing Leadership
Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read Chapters 1 and 2 from Introduction to Leadership: Concepts and Practice, Importance of Leaders with the Right Leadership Styles, What Makes a Great Leader? (cover Story), and What Is Leadership? (Links to an external site.) articles. Additionally, read the Week 1 - Weekly Lecture.
Complete the 1.2 Conceptualizing Leadership Questionnaire in the Summary and Resources section of Chapter 1 of Introduction to Leadership: Concepts and Practice, then answer the following questions:
What do the scores you received on the Conceptualizing Leadership Questionnaire suggest about your beliefs on leadership?
Of the six dimensions on the questionnaire (traits, ability, skills, behavior, relationships, and process), which two are the most similar to your own beliefs?
Which two dimensions are the least like your own beliefs? Explain.

I had the highest score on process emphasis, scoring 19. The least score was on trait emphasis (6). This means that I consider leadership more of a process than other conceptualization like skills, traits, ability, and behavior. This could imply that I view leadership from the “new leadership” approach, where leadership is considered a process that changes people and organizations (Northouse, 2018). This is also consistent with the article by Kruse (2013), which defines leadership as “a process of social influence, which maximizes the efforts of others, towards the achievement of a goal.” (para. 11). Therefore, I believe leadership is a process that involves organizing people and resources towards attaining a particular goal.
Process and relationship dimensions are two of the dimensions that are closest to my beliefs. As I have mentioned above, I consider leadership a process that transforms people and resources...
