Becoming a CEO in a completely unrelated industry is possible as has been proven by some of the most prominent CEOs in the world. Pioneering a business in an unrelated industry may be the most rewarding thing that one will ever tackle in life. Nevertheless, venturing into the completely unrelated sector can prompt people to wonder whether an individual really knows what they are doing. One instance that has proven it is possible for someone to become a CEO in an unrelated industry is the case of Jack Ma, the CEO of Alibaba Group. Jack Ma studied English language and became an English teacher in 1988 at the Hangzhou Institute of Electronics and Engineering, now known as Hangzhou Dianzi University (Ee & Yazdanifard, 2015). However, his career did not prevent him from becoming a CEO of a tech company.
