One of the ways for conveniently determining whether and organizational strategy is effective is by specifically linking it with the set goals and considering the plans established for the achievement of this goal. With all these critical considerations taken into account, a strategy is then considered to be effective in the situations where the available resources are used correctly for the purpose of helping the organization achieve its objectives. In the case of Caterpillar Inc., the strategy used to achieve growth, which is the company’s primary objective, is the allocation of more resources on the business areas with the potential that is presenting high values. The approach is implemented by using the operating and executing model. Therefore, the strategic model that Caterpillar Inc. uses is effective since, through the strategy, the company has managed to foresee potential opportunities that should be capitalized before the existing competitors, hence improving the company’s competitive advantage position.
