Business expansion and sustainability
In order to expand the day-care business and fully sustain it, there would be a need to increase the number of employees. For this particular case, there would be need for 5 certified day care professionals, 1 registered nurse professional, 5 after school assistants and 1 office support paraprofessional. The day care professionals would be required to take care of the children’s daily needs such as grooming and ensuring that homework is done, whereas the nurse would be needed to attend to their healthcare needs (Douglas, 2016). As for the support paraprofessional, s/he would be the director’s assistant in matters pertaining to the office such as communication with parents. In this regard, the employees required for these three professionals should have at least five-year experience in handling children. Given the after school assistants role such as keeping the children occupied before their parents come for them, they would need to have at least one-year experience in children related matters. All the employees have to be friendly and good at handling children.
The day care has to ensure that it hires employees according to the legal procedures laid down by the state. These employees would need to be conversant with technology in education since it would be essential for the needs of the day care. Since these requirements are common, the organization would easily find persons suited for all its available job description. In turn, it is likely to achieve the required staffing level within a short duration. Moreover, the requirements provided above would ensure that the day care’s additional employees have relevant knowledge and skills for their job. Eventually, it would benefit from an increased level of workforce. However, the day care organization should select the right employees in order to realize the projected gains (Van, et al. 2016). In this regard, it would need to use recruitment agencies so as to ensure that the applicants have the relevant job requirements indicated. Using recruitment agencies would be the perfect idea given that these agencies are likely to have access to an extensive market. Given the manner in which most agencies prescreen applicants, the day care is assured of qualified employees who would be open to long-term employment.
The long-term recruitment plan of the day care firm addresses issues such as; the firm’s primary goals, its target on experience level, diverse selection of employees, and skills to be prioritized when recruiting additional staff. Since the organization is aiming to achieve future expansions and increasing its sustainability levels, it needs a plan that would enable it to acquire a highly skilled labor force. In the event that there are credential shortages for any job description, the firm may opt for other alternatives. Particularly, where the day care professions available and willing to work do not have the minimum experience of 5 years, the firm may opt to hiring retirees. This is because retirees provide an assurance that they have a lot of experience and hence, would be good with children. However, retirees may not be relevant to the company in the long-term. Conversely, they are included in the long-term recruitment plan since their expertise would be relevant in succession planning. In this regard, the retired persons would be required to train the firm’s young employees so that they become well-versed in the roles they should undertake (Douglas, 2016). In turn, this would provide a skilled labor-force for the day-care, from within its internal workforce, in the future. This means that the day care can hire inexperienced talent on a contract basis and train them with the help of skilled retirees.
As a result, the firm would secure a unique and diverse labor-force which is relevant to its needs. This plan would also be economical and allow the organization to save on high costs associated with highly skilled employees. In the event of scarcity, the top quality employees will require more resources such as increased finances so as to be maintained. Given that this day care is in the process of expanding and has just obtained a business loan, it will not have enough resources to sustain such employees. The strain on resources would force the company to go for a fairly inexperienced talent and work to impact the desired skills and knowledge in them (Phillips, 2015). However, this may not be the case for the registered nurse since such a profession needs an individual who is well trained and experienced. Having a nurse who is able to deliver quality care to children increases the confidence of the involved stakeholders such as parents, in the day care facility. In turn, more parents are likely to take their children to the school since they are assured of their children’s well-being while at the facility. Additionally, the day care may be required to dr...
