Open system theory is the concept that environment has a great impact on the operations of the organization (Bastedo, 2016). The environment comprises of forces that organizations exerts in the political, economic and social nature. Again, the environment offers essential resources that boost the organization, initiate necessary changes, and increase the chances or the organization to survive. The open theory system emerged after the World War 11, as a response mechanism to earlier theories regarding organizations. The earlier theories include the relationship of humans that was a perspective of Elton Mayo and other theories of administration of Henri Fayol. Henri Fayol through his theory treated organizations as a self-contained entity. The open theory perspective of organizations is used by many modern theories (Bastedo, 2016). Consequently, the theories of the open system come in various flavors. For instance, contingency theory states that the organizations of many organizations are in a manner that fits their environment.
On the other hand, the institutional theory states that organization is a way that the values and beliefs of the society are embedded in the structure of organizations and expressed in the changes of the organization.
