Assignment 3: Boston Consulting Group
Part One: BCG-State of the World
Corona Virus pandemic has necessitated several measures aimed at protecting populations and averting the further spread of the disease. As different jurisdictions institute specific measures to protect their citizen, recent reports by the Boston Consulting Group indicate that a more concerted effort is required to win the war against COVID-19. In the COVID -19 BCG Perspectives: State of the World (December 2020) report, several aspects of the fight against the disease are discussed. One of the interesting reports is version #18, which focuses on the Future of Cities (October 2020). COVID-19 has resulted in what is now being referred to as the 'New Normal,' which demands that people act in specific predetermined ways to avoid contracting the disease. It is at the backdrop of these developments that the report on the Future of Cities looks at the social and economic factors that are expected to shape the development of cities and urban areas heading into the future.
The report is critical to comment on some of the expected changes influenced by the outbreak of COVID-19. Accordingly, the report emphasizes the outbreak of the virus as a societal crisis that continues to have lasting impacts on urban cities. Though the report's rationale is critical about the change of the cities, it reflects the virus's challenge as community issues affecting society (BCG Group, 2020). Some of the report's main points also focus on the need for unity among community members, reflecting on the already present changes. Additionally, different sections of the report question the nature of community unity, pointing out a rising need to fight the virus while protecting the community.
Health is a critical theme addressed in the report revealing that there are expected changes to influence and shape people’s lives. These issues are also central to affect the performance of individuals and groups at the community level (BCG Group, 2020). Several aspects of the report also try to review the mid-term implication of the current situation while focusing on its long-term implications. However, the report does not provide any lasting solution to the current problem, and it tries to project possible solutions. Some of the proposals for this section include long-term investment options aiming to secure the healthcare system while boosting service delivery (BCG Group, 2020). These alternatives seem to communicate the element of saving the community while improving the quality of life.
Business leaders face challenges to restore normalcy in the corporate world, as pointed in the report. The different challenges presented by COVID-19 reveal the threat in the real world affecting some major development industries. The various business sectors bear the responsibility to navigate through the current crisis. Accordingly, the different progressions' interplay requires some of the key players to focus on changing the different industrial sectors. Notably, the report has a significant emphasis on the main objectives directed towards changing industrial sectors (BCG Group, 2020). Leaders bear the primary responsibility to ensure that they review the current condition affecting some major industries building the economy. In light of these developments, the report is critical to delivering answers to some of the highlighted challenges.
The significant scope covered in the report is centered on some of the transformations expected in some of the main urban cities. Additionally, the report covers a wide area dealing with the healthcare systems, especially for the countries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic (BCG Group, 2020). Caution is a critical message communicated across the report's platform, which is significant to creating awareness to the general community. The report criticizes Government policies which are the driving factors for every economy.
