Why Program Music might be a Favorable Literature for Listening

According to Dr. Gordon Shaw's theory, an individual's IQ can improve by nine points by frequently listening to music. Listening to a lecture or reading from a literature source could be dull and tedious, and one might find their mind wandering from their intended task. If the same task can be presented in a programmatic music rendition, focus, attention, and understanding are improved. Music generally creates a positive attitude which may enhance one's approach to a task as it soothes the listener and helps reduce anxiety levels in many individuals. When people listen to music, they intend to achieve or satisfy a specific goal or feeling, and music composer would use specific effects to try and communicate specific information. This has become an effective medium for communication and for people to express their ideologies, as it is through listening to music that one can express how they feel. Therefore one's ability to interpret a musical item would require good listening qualities.
