1. Susanna and the Elders is a painting about desire and how men can be attracted to the same woman. Regardless if she is married or not, there will be men who will plan to seduce her. That is portrayed in this painting because Susanna is innocently looking at the 2 admirers and her body language does not show interest towards them. She also shows reluctance to communicate with them because she is married. The painting is subjective because it can easily be seen that it is about Susanna and not anyone else who is in the painting.
2. Portrait of an Elderly was done to demonstrate citizens of Bergamo, and this gives an impression of their seriousness and they could also be a strict society because there is no hint of smile on the elderly man’s face. Furthermore, looking at the man gives people an idea of their ethical values. The painter uses male subjects that are not playful and it shows a very distinctive character. In addition, they could be an intimidating society because of the arch eyebrows, tight lips, and the man knows the artist is painting him because of the direction of this eyes.
