Lesson 5 Question B - Instilling a Warrior Ethos
Air Force doctrine and senior leadership require leaders to instill the “warrior ethos” in themselves and in their subordinates. Some might argue, however, that with the Air Force’s ever-increasing emphasis on technology, creative thinking, and innovation in the realm of air, space and cyber operations, the “warrior ethos” is actually an ineffective, outdated, and nostalgic concept, employed by the Air Force only to shore up its own anxieties about its military identity. Discuss the pros and cons of the Air Force’s emphasis on instilling a “warrior ethos” in its members and whether the concept, as currently used by the Air Force, is effective.
