* One crucial (but often undiscussed) aspect of consumer diversity is gender identification. A much-discussed topic in the media lately is bathroom "rights". Do you think that private business owners or the state/federal government should be allowed to dictate which bathroom an individual can use? Why or why not?
Safe and equal bathroom access remains a fundamental right in the US. As such, states or private business owners should not be allowed to dictate which bathroom an individual can use. People have the right to use bathrooms and restrooms consistent with their gender identity, regardless of their gender at birth. Allowing private business owners or the state to dictate which bathroom one can use is discriminatory. Some states and businesses have in the recent past enacted laws that prohibit transgender individuals from using bathrooms that correspond to their current gender.
