The most outsider piece in the American Folk Art Museum is John Dunkley’s, Three Spanish Jars. The art piece is created using mixed media on canvas. Dunkley’s piece displays a high level of imagery and creativity that is rarely seen in most artworks. His level of imagination is expressed in the painting’s dimensions and nature. Similarly, these characteristics also prove that the piece is the most outside. Dunkley’s failure to properly incorporate perspective in the painting is likely to mean that the artist did not have even the basic art training. The familiarity of the piece and its comparison with other wood sculptures makes it less outsider.
